The alliance is for deployment of EVs for last-mile transportation

Magenta Mobility, the electric mobility solutions provider, announced an alliance with Flipkart for the deployment of electric vehicles for its last-mile transportation. Under the partnership, Magenta Mobility gets its footprint in the National Capital Area (Delhi NCR). The company will augment the Flipkart fleet in the region with around 400 electric cargo vehicles. Flipkart and Magenta Mobility already have a prior tie-up in Bangalore.

The cargo vehicle flag-off ceremony and announcement were made at Flipkart’s hub in Inayatpur. Present at the ceremony was Randheer Singh from NITI Aayog, Amit Kumar of Flipkart, Sophia Nadur from BP Ventures, Pooja Mehta of JITO Angel Network and Maxson Lewis from Magenta Mobility.

Commenting on the partnership, Maxson Lewis, Founder, and Managing Director, Magenta Mobility said, “We are pleased to see Flipkart's rapid adoption of EVs in its fleet. With our association with Flipkart, we are committed to providing a clean, sustainable, and affordable last-mile delivery solution across the country.”

Randheer Singh, Director of Electric Mobility and ACC Program at NITI Aayog, opined, "On this World EV Day, it is crucial for NITI Aayog to encourage efforts for the adoption of electric mobility, particularly in last-mile logistics. It is also crucial to participate in occasions where such adoptions are taking place. It gives me great pleasure to be a part of a significant occasion in which many stakeholders are coming together to make the Delhi-National Capital Region emission-free."

Magenta Mobility operates over 500 electric cars in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Mumbai for e-commerce, grocery delivery, FMCG, food, and pharmaceutical businesses. The brand's electric cargo fleet has travelled over 1 million clean (electric) kilometres, which is equivalent to around 150 metric tons of carbon dioxide. Moreover, with its own Electric Fleet Management System, the firm is a good partner for enterprises seeking to realize realistic portable objectives in decarbonization. This year, Magenta Transportation plans to deploy a fleet of over 500 EVs in Delhi to suit the demands of enterprises transitioning to clean mobility.

Flipkart’s tie-up with partners such as Magenta Mobility is part of its commitment to the Climate Group's EV100 project. Under this ensuring the electrification of its logistics fleet is an important part of its commitment to the environment. Going forward Flipkart is looking to add a further 25,000 EVs to its supply chain by 2030 to achieve a complete shift to e-mobility. To meet this target Flipkart will utilise Magenta's Electric cargo fleets, including the newly launched Mahindra Zor Grand and other select OEMs to accelerate the growth of EV adoption for last mile logistics.

Magenta is a Series A funded company backed by HPCL, and marquee investors such as JAN (JITO Angel Network), LetsVenture, and renowned Indian American philanthropist, Dr Kiran Patel.
